Hi DFlaschen, could try to use a trial version of Drive Backup 9.0 and check if it does see your drives properly: www.drive-backup.com It is newer than Ghost so works similar way. Possibly it is time to try different software than Ghost. HUAWEI PRA-LX3 REPAIR IMEI BY SIGMA KEY [email protected] aprende software free y manejo de boxes especializados facebook:https://www.facebo. Hey guys, I've been working with symantec ghost for a while and never had any problems, until I was told to create an image of a HP laptop running Windows 7 and push that image to about 20 other laptops. I've cloned several machines with Ghost and was always successful, however when I try to clone this laptop it doesn't recognize my hard drive so I have nothing to make an image of. It only sees the USB bootdisk and OS volumes. I have tried pulling an image over the network but it fails because there is no drive to clone. I can't figure out why ghost doesn't see the hard drive, does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this issue? Thanks, Kyle. After many years using a Norton Ghost boot disk to copy one partition to another, this doesn't work with my new computer. For the first time the motherboard connectors are SATA, both for the HDD and the DVD Drive. I boot up with the Ghost disk and get a message that no DVD/CD Drive can be found, and the process stops. I know I can change the settings from SATA to IDE in the BIOS. Would that let the Ghost disk do it's job? Using IDE instead of SATA is supposed to make a difference in how the computer works, but I don't know how much of a difference. So, a few questions; 1) Does it matter what the drives are set as? 2) Can I change them without having to reinstall Windows? 3) Is there any version of Ghost that can see SATA drives? 4) Any other software out there that will clone a drive or copy a partition (outside of Windows)? You will find very few people using Norton Ghost on this forum. I have no idea how well it works and haven't heard much about it in the last 5 years. Most here use competing applications--Macrium Reflect Free being the most common. Other choices include Acronis, Aomei Backupper, or the built-in Windows tool. I'm not following you on the SATA/IDE drive question. SATA drives connect via SATA cables. IDE drives connect via IDE cables. IDE drives are rarely seen anymore, having been replaced in the last 5 to 10 years by SATA drives.
Are your hard drives from the 2005 era, using those flat ribbon cables that resemble a man's belt? What brand and model drives do you have? You ought to fill out your system specifications so we have a remote idea of your hardware. Otherwise, it's all guesswork.
